William Coltman was born on 17th November 1891 in the small village of Rangemore, near Burton-on-Trent.  Lance Corporal Coltman became the most highly decorated non-commissioned officer of the British Army.  Just over 100 years ago, he like many other young men across the country, prepared to leave for the front during the First World War. However, William refused to fight because of his strong Christian beliefs.
